• When asked what positive experiences they have had, comments included "Excellent professional development", "Working with kind, funny, caring people", "When I drive home and am very pleased with how I have helped and improved an individual's day, that is my motivation", and "Lots of support from all team departments, always willing to support and welcome new starters. The senior team have been very supportive in helping me rediscover my confidence and develop my clinical skills".
• When asked what makes Benoni unique, many people said "the staff". Residents noted "the care and the fun that we have" and "The staff who are caring, friendly, helpful, will get out of their way to do their best".

Nicky received this award largely due to her extensive dysphagia menu, something which makes a difference to many residents' lives every day.

Nicky is well respected by our residents and their families and is a valued member of our team who ensures that nobody goes hungry at Benoni.

​Second nomination
Nicky has been part of the Benoni family for the past five years. She has a lovely rapport with the residents, encouraging those who struggle to eat and working with them to offer something nutritious and delicious. Nicky has worked hard to develop a separate menu for our residents with dysphagia, using moulds to improve the way that meals are presented to these individuals, and also ensuring residents with specific dietary requirements can still have birthday cake. One particular resident with dysphagia nominated Nicky for Employee of the Month for making the best mince pies she's ever had. So much of what Nicky does goes unnoticed but it really is about the little things.

Being an apprentice has allowed me to gain knowledge and skills continuously on the job. I have been able to study in university alongside working, which makes the degree very full on but has meant I have been able to implement skills into practice.
