We pride ourselves on our person-centred, holistic approach. We spoke to various members of the team about meaningful moments they've had with residents. I love having a sing-song with residents and banter during personal care. It helps to ease residents who are feeling a bit anxious. Siobhan, Healthcare Assistant Seeing the mementos and photos in their rooms can lead to a meaningful conversation with someone about what is important to them - the opportunity to personalise your room is essential. Ellie, Wellbeing Assistant I love helping residents to be as independent as possible, and to have choice. Whether it's choosing their clothes or what they want to do, getting up and out. It's really meaningful. Sarah, Student Nurse I've just come down from sitting with a gentleman from St Just. We spoke about the history of the town and it's nice to learn from him. The older generation have a lot to teach us. It's lovely to see him smile and his eyes light up reminiscing. Emma, Healthcare Assistant We're not a nursing home, we're just one big family. From all levels - activities, housekeepers, kitchen, the residents - we're all equal and everyone is prepared to do any job to the best of their ability. Karen, AP I like to go in and make them feel special and have a good chat. People can really open up on a one-to-one basis. Ann, Head of Care I love supporting someone to do something they thought they'd never do again, like taking a resident back to the beach they used to surf on. Or reminding them they're not too old for first times. I took a resident to Tate St Ives. When we were driving into St Ives, she started to tear up and said she thought she'd never see St Ives again. And when we walked around the Tate she noted how much her late husband, an artist, would have loved it. We have meaningful moments every day. When a resident enters the final stages of their life, it can be something as simple as bringing in shells from their favourite beach. Emma, Activities & Engagement Lead eWe also had some fantastic feedback in a recent survey which was circulated to staff, residents, their loved ones, and the local community. Here are some of the highlights:

We spoke to various members of the team about how the organisation has supported their own personal and professional development. Here's what they had to say. I'm currently studying Level 3 Health & Social Care. It's fantastic to build on my knowledge and tailor my practice to individual needs. It means we can offer so much more to residents. Siobhan, Healthcare Assistant I've passed my AP qualification and now I'm looking towards nursing. I feel I can give the residents a lot more now my knowledge and confidence has expanded. Karen, AP
I worked in community care before I came to Benoni and it's great to work as part of a team and know that there are people here who have my back. The 12-week induction period taught me a lot about how being in a nursing home can be equally as special to people as being in their home.

To find out more about joining the team, head to our job opportunities page. We went along to the Proud to Care Awards at the Eden Project last Friday night to celebrate Nicky, who is not just our Hidden Treasure, but officially Proud to Care's Hidden Treasure too. Nicky received this award largely due to her extensive dysphagia menu, something which makes a difference to many residents' lives every day.
