We recently hired two Healthcare Assistants with no previous care experience. We pride ourselves on the development opportunities we offer our staff and it's been a pleasure to see them grow in their roles over the last few months. Tilly has joined the team straight from education and Tammy has made the move from hospitality. We are currently hiring Healthcare Assistants and we spoke to Tammy about why it's been a great move for her.  "I never thought I'd be in this kind of role but the nurturing side has come out more as I've grown older, especially now I'm a parent.
"With no previous knowledge of care work, there has been a lot to learn, especially initially, but I've had all the support I needed. Everyone has completely taken me under their wing. "If you're thinking about making the move to care, there are likely loads of transferrable skills in your current or previous roles. To be a good healthcare assistant, you need to be a good communicator, have respect, and be willing to learn. "There are lots of opportunities for me to grow here. I know I don't want to be a nurse but I do want to progress. "We have 24 residents and they're all so different. My favourite part of the job is hearing people's stories."
